Easter 2021 Virtual Mission to Mars

Work experiences this year are all in rather a muddle. Not all schools are participating and school time is also at a premium. But Software Cornwall are opening another Virtual Mission to Mars work experience. We ran three successful Missions last year. Over 50 students from around the country took part gaining relevant knowledge and experiencing how developers work.

Applications Open

Applications are welcome from individuals from the age 14 to 24. Are you interested in software development practice? The Missions are designed to give participants the experience of developing a software product to a series of client specifications. This is a team event. Participants will be working with others in real time on the problems and challenges set to them. Code developed by the teams shall be run on the rovers and the results shared by video.

During the mission, applicants will:

  • Develop solutions using C++ Arduino based hardware.
  • Work as part of a close-knit team.
  • Create software using an Agile development process.
  • Utilise Git, Github, Discord and Tinkercad to communicate and work together.
  • Test solutions before deploying onto the rovers.
