As part of our move to Substack as our central communications platform, we’ve brought together everything you need to know about your membership, how to access member content, and how to get the most out of the community. What is Substack?
Substack is a modern communications platform that allows organisations and creators to share news, updates and content directly with their audience via email and a dedicated web page. For Tech Cornwall, it means everything from member updates, industry news, and events, to opportunities and resources. It is now in one place, delivered straight to your inbox and accessible any time online. Think of it as your Tech Cornwall hub.
Why are we moving from Slack?
Slack has served us well, but as our community has grown we’ve outgrown what it does best. We wanted a platform that brings together news, resources, events and member communications in one accessible place, without important updates getting lost in a busy channel feed.
Substack lets us share richer, more structured content, ensures updates actually reach you, and makes it easier to tailor what you receive based on your membership tier. It’s a better home for a growing community with a lot to say.
Do I need to create a Substack account?
Yes, and it’s free and straightforward to set up. While you’ll still receive membership emails as normal, Substack is becoming our platform for richer, more immediate content and community conversation: so it’s where the good stuff lives.
To receive your complimentary member access, you’ll need to subscribe to the Tech Cornwall Substack publication on the free tier using your membership email address.
Having a Substack account alone isn’t enough, the subscription is what allows us to grant your paid member access as part of your full membership benefits.
How do I access member-only content?
Once you’ve subscribed to Tech Cornwall on Substack using your registered membership email address and your complimentary paid access has been granted, member-only posts will appear automatically in your feed and inbox. You’ll also be able to access them any time via the Tech Cornwall Substack page when logged in.
I’m an existing Tech Cornwall member — what do I need to do?
Simply subscribe to the Tech Cornwall Substack publication on the free tier using your registered membership email address and we’ll take care of the rest. Once we’ve verified your membership, you’ll receive complimentary paid access automatically. No need to re-register or set up a new membership.
How do I manage my subscription or billing?
Tech Cornwall membership is managed in the same way as always. For any membership or billing queries, please contact us directly via the usual channels. Your Substack subscription is separate and simply gives you access to our content platform. If you need help with your Substack account settings, these can be managed by logging into Substack directly.
Will I still receive emails from Tech Cornwall?
Yes. You’ll continue to receive membership communications as normal. Substack adds an additional channel for richer content, news, events and community updates, delivered straight to your inbox alongside your usual membership emails.
Can I access content on Substack without receiving emails?
Yes. All content published on the Tech Cornwall Substack page is accessible online when you’re logged in, whether or not you choose to receive email notifications from either Tech Cornwall directly or Substack. You can manage your email preferences at any time through your Substack account settings.
What will happen to the old Slack community?
As we move to Substack as our primary communications platform, our Slack community is being retired. Slack will remain live until October 2026 to give members time to transition and access any previous content and conversations. Substack gives us a better way to share content, spark conversations and keep members connected, all in one place. If you have any questions about the transition, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
How do I get help if something isn’t working?

When will Tech Cornwall on Substack officially launch?
We are already adding content to the stream but officially we will be on Substack July 1st 2026. Before this date, and thereafter, we will continue to add members to full subscriptions as they join us.
