Welcome to Tech Cornwall Connected - Tech Cornwall

We’re excited to launch the first ever ‘Tech Cornwall Connected’ on 30th April at St Austell Conference Centre.

Now, why add another event to an already-packed calendar? Well, technically, this isn’t an extra event; it’s a revamp of the beloved ‘Tech Connect’ which has been a cornerstone of our community for years.

With the introduction of our new brand (in case you missed it, hello, we’re now Tech Cornwall!), we took the chance to reflect on our past successes and chart a course for our future.

We asked ourselves:

  • What value are we delivering to our members with Tech Connect?
  • What are we missing?
  • What are we being asked for?

We recognised a demand for professional development opportunities alongside the need for networking with local business peers. We’ve welcomed an influx of new members and want to encourage them to immerse themselves in the community. We’re aware of the brilliant talent in Cornwall and want to provide a platform for them to share their knowledge and skills.

And from this ‘Tech Cornwall Connected’ was born.

The feedback we receive time and time again is that our events have a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. This is with thanks to our inclusive community. Everyone is welcome, from tech experts to those starting their digital journey. Our community are here to connect, share their knowledge, ask questions and discuss their experience.

The broad range of skills and development needs of our members has encouraged us to try a different approach to this event. We’re testing out a ‘choose your own adventure’ style where you can choose to attend 2 out of 4 interactive workshops so that you can tailor the content to your current goals. In addition to this, you’ll be hearing from 2 brilliant local speakers who will be talking about the Cornish trade and the benefits of part-time employment.

And we can’t forget lunch and coffee breaks – the opportunity to mix with fellow business leaders and share the takeaways from the workshops you attend.

So far we’ve announced the following brilliant workshops, with more to be announced in the coming days (hint: there’ll be the choice of unleashing your inner awesome or learning to harness the power of a particular prominent software…)

Supporting your people to thrive – Enabling better change

Chris Whitley – Figure 8 Consulting

Change is all about people. Regardless of what’s changing, success is dependent on how we support our people through the transition from the current state to the future state.

Planning for Success

Tom Nation – Sandler

As a business leader, you’re expected to create a compelling vision, implement the strategies and structure to support that vision and develop your people, culture and skills to consistently achieve challenging goals. However, sometimes we are so immersed in the day-to-day running of our businesses that we struggle to dedicate the time to plan for the future. Join this workshop to discover the key steps that will enable you to create a strong plan for the future.

The Operating at 80% Awesome Lean Life Canvas Workshop

Rachel Foster – 80% Awesome & Agile PR

80 Per Cent Awesome is the safe space to give yourself permission not to be 100% perfect.

Based roughly on the Pareto principle, this is about recognising that it’s impossible to deliver 100% awesome at all times, even if resources are limitless. What simplicity can you bring to life to ensure you protect your energy and performance?

  • The Scale of Awesome – where are you at today? Just about managed to get out of bed, operating at 80% Awesome, or so busy you are about to reach burnout city?
  • Identify what brings you Joy and Energy – what fills up the tank.
  • Understand what it takes to let go: How to embrace a Zero Funks Given approach.
  • Future planning. What to stop, what to start, what to carry on.

Expect a practical, fun and supportive workshop with plenty of colourful post it notes and shared experiences.

We’re raring to go with this one, and would love for you to join us and experience the very first ‘Tech Cornwall Connected’.

Tickets are available here, and are free for Tech Cornwall members
