On Saturday 21st September, we proudly welcomed our first cohort of 23 learners as they embarked on their journey into the tech world!
The Tech Cornwall Career Pathways programme is designed to help people seamlessly transition into the tech industry, whether they’re looking to change careers, upskill, or explore a new field.
Thanks to the Shared Prosperity Fund, this fully funded programme offers personalised career coaching, networking opportunities, and a supportive community to unlock doors to new career prospects in Cornwall’s thriving tech scene.
The room buzzed with anticipation as introductions flowed over coffee, before Programme Lead Antonia Coppen officially launched the day with an inspiring welcome, setting the tone for the journey ahead. Following Toni’s introduction, Kayley Lawry, Academy Manager, shared details about Tech Cornwall, giving participants a deeper understanding of our mission and how we support the local tech community.
Wasting no time, our learners dived into their first coding workshop, led by Paul Clark and assisted by Tom Cummins from Rowe IT, where they used Python to program robot dogs to flip, sit, and perform other impressive tricks! Among the fun, many participants had their first encounter with professional coding platforms in this low pressure and supportive environment.
The programme has started with an abundance of enthusiasm and we look forward to following the journeys of the participants over the next 6 months.
