Goonhilly (GES) is a pioneering commercial satellite and space communications company, working at the forefront of the UK’s growing space sector. We are a rapidly expanding business with assets in the UK, and USA.

As the trusted ground station of choice for many of the world’s satellite operators, Goonhilly offers a range of satellite communication services including uplink and broadcast, gateway operations, TT&C, carrier monitoring, and more. Since 2019, the company has also expanded its services to the Moon and beyond – providing lunar and deep-space communications links to spacecraft operated by international agencies and private enterprises.

We are currently seeking a proactive candidate to contribute to on-going projects and real time operations, using a collaborative approach in a structured mission operations environment.

The Opportunity

The focus of this role is to complete high quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines, and procedures. Responsibilities will involve:

  • Routine operations of one or more ground stations, involving following procedures, methodical reporting, and logging, and ensuring systems are performing as required.
  • Supporting the development of procedures, tests, and investigations.
  • Supporting anomaly investigation and resolution processes.
  • Performing routine and critical real-time operations.
  • Performing health and performance trend analysis at system and subsystem level.

Key skills you will need for this role?

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline or have demonstrated experience in a relevant field.
  • Be able to follow procedures and instructions robustly.
  • Be confident to question procedures and processes that may need to be adapted.
  • Be competent in various computing platforms.
  • Basic competence in Linux (or similar) operating systems.
  • Be able to operate in a calm, orderly and disciplined manner during high stress situations.
  • Be able to identify problems and report them in a timely manner.
  • Be detail orientated and able to work using your own initiative with limited supervision, alongside other team members.
  • Be fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Flexibility to work shifts.
