The inaugral eHealth Innovation Summit 2021 is a collaborative knowledge exchange webinar and showcase of Cornish eHealth businesses and new technologies in support of health and the health-related fields, including: health care services, health surveillance, health literature, and health education, knowledge and research.

Brought to you by Acceleration Through Innovation 2 (ATI2) and and eHealth Productivity and Innovation in Cornwall (EPIC), two University of Plymouth led projects which are funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the online event will feature some of the vibrant and globally relevant digital health and health tech solutions that are emerging from within Cornwall’s thriving tech and creative sectors.

Expert speakers include Dr Arunangsu Chatterjee, Associate Professor of Digital Health and Education at the University of Plymouth, who will provide attendees with an insight into the digital health sector, with a particular focus upon the work of the EPIC project which is helping to drive eHealth research and innovation in Cornwall.

Professor Sa’ad Sam Medhat, Founder and Chief Executive of the UK Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange, will also be in attendance to share a wider view of the innovation landscape which will span the collaborative national and global efforts to innovate and solve real-world problems within the health sector. His particular focus will look at AI Innovations within Bio and Healthcare.

Chairing the webinar is Jo Hancock, ATI2 Programme Manager at the University of Plymouth, who will introduce eHealth Innovation from the ATI2 perspective, by sharing some of the many projects that their business support programme have assisted with throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly over the last four years.

Cornwall has one of the fastest growing tech sectors in the UK, enabled by one of the best broadband networks in Europe, details which no doubt contributed to county being chosen to host the G7 Summit. Priority policies for discussion during the G7 will include the need for a collective approach to using new technologies and the strengthening of an international trading system – policies which will be intrinsic to enabling radical innovation within eHealth and a point of discussion for our panel.

In addition to our speakers mentioned previously, joining our panel discussion is Dr Paul Upton, Founder and CEO of Ultramed, and Liz Ashall-Payne, Co-Founder and CEO of ORCHA, who are both ‘First 100 UK Digital Health Companies’ as listed by the Department of International Trade. Gisella Garcia-Alvarez, Managing Director of Cluster Saúde de Galicia who is at the helm of this successful e-health cluster in Galicia, Spain, will also be on-board to provide an international perspective.
