Paul Massey – Safe AI Coding in Regulated Domains
Talk description:
Agentic AI coding tools are advancing quickly, but in safety-critical MedTech, innovation cannot come at the cost of safety. Drawing on 25+ years of delivering compliant software, Paul Massey will share how Bluefruit Software integrates BDD, TDD, and Agile practices to meet IEC 62304 and ISO 13485 standards. He will demonstrate how BDD provides structure for AI-generated code, ensuring traceability, testability, and regulatory readiness. Attendees will gain a workflow for adopting tools like Claude Code and Cursor AI safely, strategies to build trust in AI-assisted development, and practical steps for integrating AI today – without waiting for regulators to catch up.

Paul Massey has over 25 years’ experience delivering safety-critical and compliant embedded software, specialising in IEC 62304 and IEC 61508 standards. He is passionate about using Agile practices to achieve higher quality and innovation, with a strong focus on empowerment and psychological safety in engineering teams. Paul is a founding director of Tech Cornwall and an active trustee, helping organisations navigate growth and sustainability. Known for building homegrown talent and award-winning teams, he brings deep expertise in regulated software development and a curiosity for emerging technologies, from VR to quantum computing. Outside work, Paul competes in champion-level dog agility.
Matt Ville – Is AI the enemy of sustainability?

AI is everywhere – powering everything from marketing campaigns to product design, but behind the scenes, it’s hungry. Very hungry. Every AI model, every chatbot, every generated image comes at a hidden environmental cost. So the big question: is AI the enemy of sustainability, or can we make it work for a greener future?
In this talk, Matt Ville, CEO of Hiyield, will share insights from their AI and sustainability report, combining original research with expert analysis from the University of Exeter. We’ll explore:

Perry Hughes – Is SEO dead in the age of AI (Lightning talk)

People keep asking the question: is SEO dead? With AI taking over search results and tools like ChatGPT and Google’s AI Overviews giving direct answers, many assume SEO has had its day. But has it really died… or has it simply evolved?
