Are you ready to take your business to the next level? In today’s fast-paced world, AI is transforming the way businesses operate, and if you’re not using AI, you risk being left behind. But don’t worry, you don’t need to be an expert in AI to get started! Our Build with AI course is designed to help you understand the basics of AI and how to apply it to your business.

Starting in March 2023, this 4 day course over 4 weeks will provide you with a solid foundation in AI, covering various topics such as Chat GPT, and natural language processing.

This course will be run 1 day a week on Wednesday for 4 weeks 10am-2pm

This course will be ideal for anyone looking to reinvigorate their professional outlook. From start-ups, those who are self-employed, small / new businesses, or larger / established businesses looking to renew or expand. Whatever area you work in, you can benefit from learning how to build an AI product.

Course aims

Session outlines

Week 1 – Introduction to AI such as ChatGPT– short history, AI ethics, terminology, importance of creativity in designing AI products. We call this part, “knowing enough to sound like an expert at a dinner party,” or “how to wow you friends and family.” You will also be shown what is coming next and what to look out for.

Week 2 – How to talk to an AI agency, release value and save costs. How to recognise an agency that fits your challenge and how to craft the remit to increase expectation of success at the lowest cost. What does the agency need from you, and what do you need to know in order to make that relationship a success.

Week 3 – You will learn: Creative Writing for chatbot and content creation; to create predictive models on hard datasets such as spreadsheets and databases; how to use Q&A models for large knowledge bases, such as government guidance and regulation, or internal business documents. You will explore some existing platforms that need no or low coding knowledge, which are already available in the marketplace that can solve challenges right now.

Week 4 – Build your own AI resource using third-party products such as ChatGPT, allowing you to take a valuable asset back to your business to demonstrate the opportunities that AI can bring. The participants will have created either a chatbot that collects data, a device that detects movement, a model that shows predications on a table of data, or an AI that interrogates some documents as a Q&A model.

Sessions can include short lectures, theory, reading materials and references, individual and group activities, class discussions and feedback.

Outcomes

After completing Build with AI, participants will be ready to continue with future courses. Participants will also receive an industry badge certified by Software Cornwall as recognition of skills gained. You will have a good understanding of the AI landscape and the opportunities and challenges that this creates. You will also have a business plan that you can use personally or present to your business for how AI could add value to them.

The project has a target of engaging with and supporting at least 580 SME and micro-businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly before it concludes in December 2023.
