Cornwall Innovation Club: The Value of Inclusive Innovation

Cornwall Innovation Club: The Value of Inclusive Innovation

Join ATI2’s next Cornwall Innovation Club, ‘The Value of Inclusive Innovation’, where we will be discussing the positive link between diversity and business innovation, as well as some of challenges Cornish businesses face when attracting and employing a diverse workforce.

Research shows that the more diverse a business is, the more innovative they are! It is for this reason that aspirational names such as Google, Apple and Monzo actively plan and track their diversity and inclusion goals to ensure their products, services and outputs work for a diverse society.

“Our goal at Monzo is to make money work for everyone. To do that, working at Monzo must work for everyone” – Monzo.

As a broad and multifaceted topic, we will be joined by three extraordinary business leaders who will share their own personal experiences and insights on our topic.

Speakers include:

Wendy Powell – Founder and CEO of MUTU System

Founder and CEO of NHS Apps Library approved MUTU System, Wendy Powell is the woman behind the leading global and medically recommended digital health tech platform for mothers.

Caitlin Gould – Co-Founder of TECgirls, Chair of the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly (CIoS) Digital Skills Partnership Board, and CIoS Employment Skills Board member

Caitlin Gould Co-Founded TECgirls in 2019, after recognizing a need for homegrown tech talent in Cornwall and finding out that the numbers of young girls studying the subject in the county was so low that it wasn’t even recorded. TECgirls is a non-profit organisation run completely by volunteers and aims to inspire young girls (6-12) to consider a career in the Technology, Engineering and the Creative sectors.

As a passionate advocate for the continued expansion of the Cornish technology sector, Caitlin is Chair of the Board for the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Digital Skills Partnership, where she works together with several other Cornish Technology and Digital companies to explore new ways to support and transform Cornwall. She is also a CIoS Employment Skills Board member.

Formerly a Director at Bluefruit Software, Caitlin was instrumental in working closely with HR to improve the businesses’ diversity policies, including a push for improved parental leave for men and women. All of which contributed to Bluefruit winning multiple awards, including Best Place to Work in Cornwall and Best Tech Workplace within the Southwest.
