Camborne-based LumiraDx Care Solutions put on a healthy lunch picnic for over 50 employees with food provided by the Hungry Horsebox Co. to celebrate World Mental Health Day which took place on the 10 October 2018. World Mental Health Day was established in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health to promote education and awareness of mental health and wellbeing.
Helen Dunstan, one of the Mental Health First Aiders at LumiraDx commented:
“We wanted to mark World Mental Health Day with a special lunch for staff as a part of a larger, more holistic approach we have to workplace wellbeing. Employees found it to be a positive experience and really appreciated being able to take time out of their day to enjoy the sunshine, great food and the chance to have a chat.”
Raising awareness of World Mental Health Day is just one of the ways the company is focussing on mental health in the workplace. Other initiatives include on-site mental health first-aiders, access to a life coach and mindfulness courses. The company is also part of the Healthy Cornwall’s Healthy Workplace Awards scheme and currently holds a silver award for their workplace health.
