Over the past four weeks, I had the opportunity to attend the ‘Build With AI’ training course run by Software Cornwall with Wo King from Hi9. As a Marketing Executive with a background in traditional marketing, I was excited to learn more about the world of AI/ChatGPT and it’s potential impact on the marketing industry.
Through the course we learned the history of machine learning and delved into the ethics a little before learning about how a large language model works.
We went on to learn by using only the full English Language we can create effective prompts with ChatGPT to do so many things such as build AI images of ourselves like mine on this blog in the style of Narnia (trying to explain to my teens this was not a snapchat filter but to think of it as a painting created by the AI was challenging) we also used this learning to build products and business logos from scratch in a matter of minutes, just from using descriptive prompts. We were able to develop this further and create websites and then write entire business and marketing plans.
It was all very impressive, although I don’t think the experienced graphic designers out there will feel too threatened…..yet!
The last day tied everything together nicely with Professor Andy Pardoe joining us to demonstrate how we can develop AI strategy for our business.
One of the highlights of the course was the opportunity to work with a diverse group of professionals, all of whom brought their unique experiences and perspectives to the table. We learned from each other and shared suggestions which we all agreed broadened our experience. Those that wanted to delve into the more technical aspects of AI further were invited to stay on longer at the end which was really helpful.
Overall, the “Build with AI” training course was an eye-opening experience that has expanded my horizons. I’m excited to apply what I’ve learned to my marketing work at Software Cornwall and I’m confident that the skills I’ve gained will be valuable in navigating the ever-changing landscape of the tech industry.
If you’re interested in learning more about AI and how you can use it to help in both your work and every-day life (think ‘your own life coach’), I highly recommend the “Build with AI” training course. It’s a challenging but rewarding journey that will broaden your perspective and leave you better equipped to navigate the exciting future of technology. The next course is running in June with Software Cornwall and Hi9!
