Software is complicated stuff: objects, classes, messages and protocols and pipelines... and when it comes to creating presentations about software, it's all too easy to overwhelm your audience. Complicated architecture diagrams, hundreds of lines and rectangles fighting for space on a Powerpoint slide; code samples in 10pt Consolas that your audience can't even read, let alone understand.
But buried in all that complexity, there's a story. Your classes are characters, your systems are a stage - and when it comes to giving technical presentations, knowing how to tell that story is a superpower.
Dylan Beattie's been giving technology presentations since 2008; he's spoken at hundreds of conferences and meetups all over the world, and videos of his presentations have racked up millions of views online. In this session, Dylan will share tips, tricks and techniques for anybody who wants to give engaging, entertaining presentations without skipping over the gritty technical details.
As this training is Part-Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund there will be some paperwork for attendees to complete (this only needs completing once and not required for every masterclass).
This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
