Gateway to Tech with EU-Funded Business Clusters

Software Cornwall is putting the call out to local software companies to get in touch regarding business clusters; a new incentive that will provide adults with training and experience to lead a new career path in tech, helping to plug the software skills gap in Cornwall.

As part of a near £7 million project, part-funded by the European Social Fund, being led by Truro & Penwith College, Software Cornwall will be developing over the next few years a new training scheme to enable access to jobs in software.

A number of companies have already assisted in the initial learning plan to take already talented individuals from other industries and retrain them in software development. To ensure the learning plan fits the bill for Cornwall as many enterprises as possible need to come on board. Each time we speak to another company new branches of required knowledge come to light.

If we can get participants to learn precisely what is required then they will fit company requirements. Additionally, enterprises are sought who would be willing to provide a paid work placement, for which there is assisted funding, to finish off the training. And who knows hopefully a happy employment.

If you are willing to participate please contact Robert Wiltshire, [email protected], and we can really give this project the best chance of producing a possibly new way of training for the future.
