Contract, Full-time
£35,000 – £45,000 (depending on experience) + Bonus

Contract: 1 Year Full Time, Fixed-Term, with possibility of extension.
Location: Hayle, Cornwall (Hybrid – 3 days on-site, 2 days remote)

We are a long-established group of self-catering holiday-letting agencies, managing a large portfolio of premium holiday homes across the UK. Our brands include Aspects Holidays, Boutique Retreats, Classic Cottages, Grandeur Property, Island Escapes, and Unique Hideaways.

As part of an ongoing technology modernisation programme, we’re looking for a .NET Application Developer to play a key role in maintaining and supporting a business-critical legacy application, while also contributing to the delivery of its modern replacement.

About the role

You’ll be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and stability of a legacy VB6 and .NET desktop application that remains central to day-to-day operations across the group. Working closely with our Software Support team, you’ll help investigate and resolve production issues, deliver change requests, and ensure the system continues to meet the needs of the business while it remains in active use.

Alongside this, you’ll also contribute to the development of new functionality within our next-generation platform, a modern, API-driven Blazor SPA. This includes supporting API development, carrying forward key business logic, and responding to evolving business needs. Your understanding of existing domain logic and workflows will help ensure a smooth and informed transition between platforms.

The role is primarily focused on supporting the existing application, with ongoing opportunities to contribute to the new platform as it evolves. It plays an important part in reducing risk, maintaining stability, and supporting the business during a period of significant technical change.

You’ll be involved across the software development lifecycle, from investigation and design through to implementation, testing, and deployment, with a strong emphasis on reliability, clarity, and maintainability.

What we’re looking for

We value experience working with long-lived systems and recognise the importance of careful, informed change in production environments. We’re looking for a pragmatic, experienced developer who is comfortable working with legacy systems and understands the realities of supporting production software. This role would suit someone who values stability, clear ownership, and making practical improvements that directly support users and the wider business.

Key strengths for this role include:

  • Commercial experience maintaining and enhancing legacy applications
  • Solid experience with .NET development
  • Strong skills in Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL
  • Experience working on production systems and handling bug fixes and change requests
  • Confidence collaborating with software support and non-development stakeholders
  • A methodical approach to problem-solving and system stability

Experience with Azure, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development practices is beneficial, particularly where it supports contributions to the new platform.

Technologies you’ll work with

You don’t need to be an expert in everything listed below. We’re more interested in relevant experience, sound judgement, and a willingness to engage with both legacy and modern systems.

Core technologies

  • .NET
  • Microsoft SQL Server / T-SQL
  • VB6

Modern platform & tooling

  • API-driven architectures
  • Blazor
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Azure DevOps

Learning & development

Although this role has a strong support and maintenance focus, training and development remain important to us. You’ll have access to online learning platforms and the opportunity to build familiarity with modern .NET, cloud technologies, and the new platform as part of the transition work.

Working with us

You’ll be based in our modern, purpose-designed office in Hayle, built to support collaboration and focused work, with the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week. We’re proud to support and grow local tech talent in Cornwall and are therefore looking for candidates already within commuting distance of our office.

A generous package is on offer for the right candidate with benefits including a performance related bonus, 33 days holiday, an extra day off for your birthday and access to our employee assistance program.

Please note

  • This is a one year fixed-term position (with possibility of extension).
  • We are not accepting applications from agencies or recruiters
  • This role is not open to relocation or fully remote working
