Mike Postons – UAVs and 3D Imaging for Heritage & Environments
Mike will be presenting a case-study-led overview of how UAVs and spatial imaging technologies are applied across projects in Cornwall, exploring their use in heritage documentation, environmental monitoring with photogrammetry and 3D Gaussian Splatting, and aerial 360 photography with interactive mapping for tourism and commercial outreach, while outlining full workflows from data capture and site considerations through post-processing, software development, and managing large datasets, using highly visual project examples to show how raw aerial and spatial data is transformed into practical digital tools for public engagement, research, and commercial use.
Jake Shaw-Sutton – Local Agri-Tech Advances
Robotriks Ltd is a robotics R&D company based in Par, Cornwall, specialising in the design and manufacture of affordable, autonomous robotic platforms for real-world use. Founded in 2018, Jake will speak about how Robotriks set out to break down the financial and technical barriers to automation in agriculture and other industries.
Robotriks’ mission is to make advanced robotics accessible, sustainable, and practical for the people who need them most, and believe that high-performance technology doesn’t need to come with a high-end price tag. From autonomous weeding and precision planting to soil compaction testing and infiltration analysis, their solutions are developed with flexibility, scalability, and environmental impact in mind. Robotriks partner with local authorities, researchers, and innovators across the UK and beyond to develop systems that solve pressing challenges in agriculture and land management.
Becky Wilson – Farming the future: Practical Climate Action on Cornish Farms

Steve Holley & Steve Tarrant – Implementation of Advanced Technology in Mining at South Crofty
Cornish Metals is developing its flagship project South Crofty.South Crofty is a strategically important tin project, with the potential to become a pivotal domestic source of tin for the United Kingdom at a time when secure supply of critical minerals is increasingly important. The presentation will outline how the project is integrating advanced technologies to enhance the mine’s operational efficiency, sustainability, and output.
The collectiveinitiatives position South Crofty not simply as a restarted mine, but as a modern, responsible cornerstone of the UK’s critical materials supply chain.
Ben Holt – Gamifying the Coast: Tech-Powered BioBlitz Battles
Ben Holt, CEO and Co-Founder of The Rock Pool Project, will explore how the Big Rock Pool Challenge is using technology to make wildlife recording fun, accessible and scalable at a national level.
Delivered through a growing UK-wide volunteer network, the project uses digital tools to coordinate activities, collect data and scale impact. At its core is a custom-built BioBlitz Battle app that transforms species recording into a live, team-based experience using verified biodiversity data — making participation more engaging while automating reporting behind the scenes to reduce admin and support growth.
Looking ahead, the project will explore smarter automation, improved user experience and stronger data integration to further strengthen community-led coastal conservation.
Russell Arnott – Save your Soul: AI within the Environmental Sector
Dr Russell Arnott is the Founder and Director of Incredible Oceans, a Cornwall-based non-profit that works to make the ocean accessible, engaging and relevant to non-specialist audiences. He delivers presentations, workshops and events across the UK, working with schools, venues and festivals.
At Tech Connected Russell shares how he uses AI with intention within Incredible Oceans; a Cornwall-based ocean education non-profit. Rather than replacing creativity, he uses it to streamline low-value admin, reduce cognitive overload, and protect the time and energy needed for environmental science communication.
Russell will reflect on his own AI journey, sharing practical reflections on where it genuinely helps, where it doesn’t, and how thoughtful adoption can strengthen mission-driven work.
