A modern web browser is an amazingly capable platform: typography, graphics, interactions, animation: there's almost no limit to the kinds of applications and experiences we can build on the web here in 2025.
And yet... many modern web applications are a mess. Divs inside divs inside divs, over-engineered JavaScript frameworks, custom scripts and plugins that absolutely made sense five years ago but today they're unnecessary cruft.
Dylan Beattie's been writing HTML since the web was invented. He's worked with everything from Java applets to web assembly, from static sites to enterprise-scale content management systems. Join Dylan for a live, online session that celebrates just how awesome modern browsers are. Let's learn about the tags, APIs and features that have been added to web standards over the last few years, and explore the kind of layouts, interactivity and experiences we can build on the modern web - no frameworks required.
As this training is Part-Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund there will be some paperwork for attendees to complete (this only needs completing once and not required for every masterclass).
This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
