Schools Work Experience Week Collaboration 2016Software Cornwall working collaboratively with members are planning to run a Work Experience week for students who would like the opportunity to work as part of a development team and business. In the past two years we have seen requests for work experience places increase and busineses are unable to cope with the volume of requests now received, we therefore plan a collaborative event where students get to experience working as part of a dev team in a business environment. We have a provisional week of the 4-8th July 2016 and have initially scoped a Mission to Mars event for 15-20 students. Students work in teams as part of a new business venture that requires coding of robots to undertake various challenges to deliver a product for a Mars Mission contract the new business has won. The week provides a great experience for students where they can get hands on and gain real work experience. The final day will have the teams present their work and speak to the business community about careers opportunities and pathways. Local businesses are sponsoring the experience with MyMediaLab and Bluefruit Software confirmed as sponsoring the first two teams and providing a mentor for each team. If you would like to sponsor a team or a student place on the experience or you would like to volunteer to be a mentor please let us know!
