Tech Champion Visit : Cornwall Tech Week – Career Pathways

As part of Cornwall Tech week volunteers from tech businesses from across the county are volunteering to visit secondary schools to talk to students in their assemblies prior to taking their GCSE options in January.  We would like to give students a better understanding of the career pathways available in the tech sector in Cornwall, especially within digital and software engineering.

We aim to visit every secondary school in Cornwall, during tech week 5-12 December or before GCSE options are taken in January.

We have a 20 minute presentation suitable to give during assembly which will include details of our planned Work Experience Mission next July.

As our key contact for your school, could you let us know suitable dates below, or if you can let us know the best contact to speak to to organise a visit that would be great.

Please reply as soon as possible with date/time/contact for Software Cornwall Careers Pathways Visit or contact [email protected] for further information

Work Experience 2016

Software Cornwall working collaboratively with members are planning to run a Work Experience week for students who would like the opportunity to work as part of a development team and business.

We have a provisional week of the 4-8th July 2016 and have initially scoped an event for 20-25 students.  We are currently working on confirming this date and the experience and hope to be in touch very soon with details and application forms for interested students.

Students and teachers interested in this work experience week can register their interest on the Software Cornwall here.

Software Cornwall is a private Not for Profit organisation funded and supported by its members

Cornwall Tech Week is an idea supported by Cornwall College, Software Cornwall and Volunteers from the local tech community to support teachers and students with the new Computer Science GCSE and raise awareness of Career Pathways and bring together the tech community in Cornwall.  We hope Cornwall Tech Week will become an annual event where schools and businesses can work together to develop a positive digital engineering career pathway for the future.
