Course Content

Alexa, the voice service behind the Amazon Echo, is changing how we interact with the world and is enabling developers and technologists to build new voice applications or Alexa skills to reach and engage customers.

Attendees of this event will receive training on how to build and publish skills that make Alexa smarter and make everyday tasks faster, easier, and more delightful for customers. We will also explore AWS developer tools to implement and automate the build and deployment of an Alexa skill to streamline delivery of code and interaction model changes into the production environment.

The event is free to attend, as part of the business support championed by the EPIC project run by CHT, University of Plymouth and promoted in partnership with SWITCHSWCTN, Plymouth Science ParkSoftware Cornwall and the Digital Skills Partnership CIOS. These organisation are all working together to support EPICs commitment to Alexa based initiatives in Cornwall and beyond.

Places are limited, so please register ASAP to secure your participation.

Depending on the feedback we are planning to organise further in-depth sessions as part of the EPIC project (subject to extension funding).

Please bring a fully charged laptop to the event. You will also need to create an Amazon Developer account here and an AWS account here prior to arrival.

The event will open at 9.30 am for registration, to commence at 10 am.

A light lunch will be provided at 12 pm, and the event will close at 2 pm.

Exact venue details will be confirmed with delegates after registration.
